The third annual BSides Huntsville security conference, scheduled for Feb. 6, 2016, will feature cybersecurity experts Jack Daniel and Adrian Crenshaw as the keynote speakers, along with other well-known presenters. Two simultaneous tracks will allow conference participants to choose among a variety of sessions, most of which are technical in nature. The conference, which will be held in the Dynetics Solutions Complex, 1004 Explorer Blvd., is open to professionals, students and parents of students. The cost to attend is $10 and includes lunch.
Several speakers are on the schedule, and more will be added. Daniel, who will give the opening keynote address, is a founder of Security BSides and author of the blog, "Uncommon Sense Security." Tripwire selected him as one of the "Top 25 Influencers in Security You Should Be Following in 2015." Crenshaw, the afternoon keynote speaker, runs the information security website Irongeek.com, which specializes in videos and articles that illustrate how to use various pen-testing and security tools. He works for TrustedSec as a senior security consultant and is one of the co-founders of Derbycon, a security conference held in Louisville, Ky., each year.
"We continue to get a very positive response to BSides Huntsville from both presenters and participants," said Paul Coggin, a senior principal cybersecurity analyst with Dynetics and organizer of the event. "We've had more than 100 attendees each of the past two years and expect an even greater turnout in 2016."
Jonathan Whitcomb, Dynetics vice president, Enterprise Solutions, said, "Huntsville continues to host quality cybersecurity conferences year after year. Dynetics is pleased to sponsor and host BSides and Rocket City TakeDownCon, and sponsor the Southeast Cyber Security Summit. With world-class speakers and training, these local events offer both those who work in the field now and those who will in the future, the opportunity to learn about the latest in cybersecurity technology at an affordable price."
