Dynetics Rolls Out Fourth Generation Battery Interface Unit to the Automotive Industry

Wednesday October 08, 2014

Dynetics announced today it has released an enhanced  version of its battery interface unit, a wireless current probe test platform used  for electrical testing in automobile manufacturing plants. The Dynetics 4th Generation Battery Interface Unit (4GBIU) was designed for portable electrical testing applications.

"The 4GBIU provides enterprise class security for wireless," said Bob Graves, manager of the Commercial Solutions Division at Dynetics. "The probe is accurate and robust, capable of withstanding harsh industrial applications. We have redesigned the electronics and made  improvements to the unit. One such improvement is the ability to detect lower currents, such as those generated by LED lighting, resulting in improved vehicle quality."

The 4GBIU is connected to an automobile's battery for testing. It verifies component operation and functionality, as well as continuity.

The 4GBIU enables assembly line personnel to inspect vehicle electrical system functions such as turn signal operation and duration and the operation of rear window heaters, headlights, brake lights, vanity lights, puddle lights and door actuators.

"Electrical testing allows the manufacturer to ensure better quality and resolution of problems at the assembly line level," said Terry Byard, manager of the Dynetics Automotive Solutions Department. "Dynetics has a suite of tools to help automobile manufacturers reduce warranty work by detecting problems before the vehicle leaves the assembly plant."

Dynetics has provided full-service engineering and low-volume production for automotive engineering, manufacturing and service applications for more than 20 years.

This announcement was made prior to the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association's Southern Automotive Conference in Birmingham, Ala., where Dynetics will be exhibiting this week For more information about the conference, visit the website.
