Atmospheric Systems

Dynetics’ work in atmospheric systems includes end-to-end modeling, simulation, and analysis of ascent/reentry flight systems to include the following:

  • Concept Development
  • Propulsion
  • Trajectory Design (ascent and in-space)
    • Aerodynamic Characterization
    • Computational Fluid Dynamics
    • Wind Tunnel Testing and Analysis
  • Structural/Thermal Design and Analysis
  • Guidance, Navigation, and Control

Dynetics has applied our expertise to supporting the development of our spacecraft launch abort system’s aerodynamic characterization. This complex system has to perform several complex aerodynamic maneuvers and will allow NASA to achieve at least a 10x improvement in crew safety during the ascent of the Dynetics/Ares launch systems. We also do end-to-end flight systems development. Examples include several advanced weapons programs such as USAF GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) munition and the Quick Materiel Express Delivery System (QuickMEDS). In addition, we participated in the design, development, testing, and production of the Hellfire Modification K upgrade.
